Letterpress printing has been integral to Winterbourne’s activity for many years, and the site is increasingly becoming a hub for those interested in studying the history of letterpress printing and typography. Winterbourne is now home to a significant library of books relating to print history and culture.
The Typographic Library was created by a Professor of Typography at Birmingham City University, and contains books, periodicals and much more. In April 2023 the Library was relocated to Winterbourne, and now occupies a room on the top floor of the house.
Along with the Winterbourne Press, the relocation of the Library is part of a joint initiative with Birmingham City University called The Centre for Printing History and Culture (CPHC).
Access to the Typographic Library is by appointment, and the books are for reference only. If you would like to make a research visit, please send an enquiry via our contact page and we will contact you.
