Courses, Talks and Workshops

We offer a variety of courses, talks and workshops throughout the year, ranging from horticultural to crafts and historical interest.

RHS courses at Winterbourne

RHS accredited courses

The Centre for Horticulture is an RHS accredited centre and we offer the chance to achieve a variety of RHS Qualifications. More information about studying for an RHS Qualification with the Winterbourne Centre for Horticulture can be found here.

Horticulture – Short Courses

The Winterbourne Centre for Horticulture offer a range of horticultural short courses that normally take place in various locations across the site and offer you the opportunity to enjoy the house and garden for free on the day. Previous topics have included  Garden Design and Propagation  provided by our RHS tutors and courses provided in collaboration with The Gardens Trust.

We are hoping to start offering short courses again in the near future, if you would like more information sent out to you when these become available please contact our Learning Officer, Eleanor Hill on e.hill@bham.ac.uk .

Talks & Workshops

Our programme usually includes a range of talks and workshops on a variety of topics, including garden history, bee keeping and making stained glass windows! Talks normally take place in the historical main house at Winterbourne and we have both daytime and evening events throughout the year. Workshops take place in the Centre of Horticulture and run during the daytime. Due to the ongoing restrictions caused by the Covid 19 pandemic, we don’t currently have any in person events scheduled for this year but hope to be able to offer them again in the near future.
