Working with ways to create three-dimensional stitches and using padding and wire we will be inspired by insects, foliage and flowers to create 3D, raised embroidered pieces.
Stumpwork originated in the 17th century and we will bring
together these processes with appliqué and embroidery to
create flat and free-standing elements with a modern take on this old tradition. You will design and create your own piece of appliquéd and raised embroidery.
No previous skills are necessary; Claire will guide you in your first steps or help you extend existing knowledge.
Materials are provided but please feel free to bring any of your own favourites.
