Qur’an – Manuscripts, pigments and printing

11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm (2 sessions)

An opportunity to explore the pigments and materials used to decorate manuscripts of the Qur’an and other texts from the Muslim world.  You will learn how traditional artists produced pigments and inks from nature. We will draw inspiration from Winterbourne Gardens to look at how we can create our own pigments today and use the Winterbourne press to create a traditional motif in print.  This is a practical, hands-on workshop, led by manuscript specialist, Dr Neelam Hussain.

A free workshop open to all. Limited places, booking essential. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

This event is brought to you as part of Culture Forward: the Qur’an in the City.
