Explore and observe the close-up beauty of the Winterbourne Gardens, and draw and print your own unique reduction cut lino prints in this 2-day workshop with print artist Sarah Moss.
The first day of this workshop will be centred around observational drawing directly from the garden. The emphasis will be on shape and form, negative and positive space, and composition. You will use a wide range of materials and mark making techniques to help develop your images. Back in the workshop you will be able to draw up your design and prepare your printing block.
The second day will be based in the classroom, where you will cut and print your unique design using 2, 3 or more colours using the reduction method.
This 2 day workshop is an expansion of Sarah’s one day reduction cut lino class and allows participants to explore the process in more depth. Both beginners and those with some experience are welcome. All materials and equipment are provided, but you may wish to bring your own sketchbook and apron.
As the first session is mainly based in the gardens and glasshouses, you will need appropriate clothing for the weather . You may also like to bring a cushion, rug or folding chair for comfort whilst working outside.
There will be a short lunchbreak and you a welcome to bring a packed lunch or purchase food from the Winterbourne Tearoom. Tea and coffee will be provided.
Recommended for ages 18+. The workshop will take place in the Winterbourne Centre for Horticulture. For any queries about this workshop, please email our Learning Officer, Ellie Hill.
All courses, workshops and events at Winterbourne House & Garden are non-refundable unless cancelled by Winterbourne.
