Getting here

Winterbourne is located on University of Birmingham campus in Edgbaston, Birmingham. Only a few miles from the city centre, we encourage visitors to travel sustainably to Winterbourne.

The X21 and X22 buses stop just round the corner from Winterbourne. They pick up from the city centre by New Street Station. More details about frequency and other stops can be found on the National Express Bus website.

There are regular direct trains from Birmingham New Street on the cross-city line to University Station, just a 10-minute walk from Winterbourne.

Winterbourne is located just off the main A38, which runs south west from the city centre. If using a sat nav, enter our full address for the best route: Winterbourne House and Garden, 58 Edgbaston Park Road, B15 2RT (what3words:  libraries.press.fancy)

There are approximately 50 car parking spaces on site, including three blue badge spaces next to the main house entrance. On busy days when our car park is full, you can use the multistorey car park on Pritchatts Road. Further information about parking can be found on the University of Birmingham website.

Accessibility

We want everyone to be able to enjoy Winterbourne. We continually explore options to ensure the house and garden are as accessible as possible within their historic confines, whilst also recognising that access needs are diverse and personal to the individual.

  • There is a platform lift in the house, providing access to all three floors
  • Many of the garden paths are wheelchair friendly, and there are step-free routes throughout the garden
  • An accessible toilet is located on the ground floor of the house, by the entrance
  • Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available to borrow on a first-come-first-served basis, free of charge
  • We offer free carer tickets for carers accompanying those with disabilities
  • There is seating throughout the garden, giving you the opportunity to take a rest during your visit, if needed
