Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill for personal enjoyment or want to pursue a career in floristry, this course is the perfect starting point.

When: Thursdays February 2027 – June 2027 (12-weeks, Birmingham term-time only. Dates to be confirmed)
Where: Winterbourne House and Garden, Winterbourne Centre for Horticulture

What to expect

Throughout this floristry course, you will:

  • Explore craft resources – develop your knowledge of floral materials and the techniques used to manipulate them
  • Discover and develop craft ideas – find inspiration and develop your own designs
  • Create, present and review a final floristry display – plan, produce and reflect upon your own floristry craft work

Tutor Claire Brant will asses you through weekly practical floristry sessions, providing evaluation, feedback and weekly target setting and development opportunities. This will form the basis for your professional floristry portfolio that contributes to your first formal assessment, Exploring Floristry and Beyond. This assessment involves research into tools, equipment, materials, properties, techniques and safe working practices used within the floristry industry.

The second assessment, Floristry Creativity and Inspiration within a Sustainable World, involves researching and reflecting on your own sources of inspiration from nature and design that contribute towards floral design.

The final assessment, From Plan to Your Own Inspirational and Sustainable Design, involves bringing together the skills and techniques you have developed over the course into a final show-stopping design.

Whether you’re looking to pursue a career in floristry, or simply want to enjoy learning something new in a supportive and creative environment, this 12-week course is ideal for you.

You will need good manual dexterity and an ability to create a professional portfolio demonstrating your practical work.

There are no formal entry requirements. No prior floristry experience is necessary, altough you may wish to explore our range of single-day floristry workshops before starting this course.

This floristry course will help you to develop professional floristry skills, and progress on to study the higher NCFE-accredited Level 2 Creative Professional Floristry qualification.

This floristry course is taught by Clare Brant who works for Rudge Wood Horticulture CIC.
