Birmingham & District Beekeepers
Run by the Birmingham and District Beekeepers, this six-week course will teach you the theory of how to keep your bees healthy and harvest honey. By the end of this course, you will have the confidence and know-how to begin your journey as a beekeeper.
What you’ll learn:
- Honeybee natural history
- What you need to know to start beekeeping
- How to get your first bees
- How to look after the bees
- Keeping them healthy
- Swarming
- Dealing with common problems
- Harvesting and processing honey
Please note, this is a classroom-based course and does not involve handling bees.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and those looking to deepen their knowledge of beekeeping best-practices. Recommended for ages 18+.
The workshop will take place in the Winterbourne Centre for Horticulture.
