‘Cubists and Tubists’: The Golden Age of Poster Design

Art Deco posters from the 1920s and 30s are now more popular than ever, but their reproduction on calendars and greetings cards belies their often radical beginnings as works designed to raise the standard of public taste. In this talk, Dr Emma West gives an insight into the history of British interwar posters, from adverts for the London Underground to the General Post Office, exploring how companies used advertising not only to increase sales but also to introduce the public to modern art.
