Join us for the final in a series of talks commemorating the 250th anniversary of Baskerville’s death. These talks will honour the life, work and death of the printer, deist and free-thinker, John Baskerville.

Scripted identities: How social imaginaries shape type design

Typefaces are not solely tools for communication and diversifying the way information is presented; they are also components of culture, deeply immersed in social imaginaries. Uncover how collective beliefs, visual conventions, and historical narratives shape the way that both designers and readers conceive of, and perceive, letterforms.

Recommended for ages 18+. The talk will take place in the Winterbourne Centre for Horticulture. For any queries about this session, please email our Learning Officer, Ellie Hill.

All courses, workshops and events at Winterbourne House and Garden are non-refundable unless cancelled by Winterbourne.

*All bookings are subject to a booking fee of up to £2.50.
