Allotments: Sustainable techniques for a thriving plot

Learn how to work with nature, rather than against it, to create a thriving vegetable garden or allotment that supports biodiversity and sustainability.

Discover the art of transforming waste into valuable resources for your garden, learn how to care for and repair your own hand tools, and get to grips with other sustainable practices to implement in your own allotment. This is a classroom session with some demonstrations.

In this session, you’ll discover:

  • The Art of “Brockolading” – Transforming waste into valuable resources for your garden.
  • Self-Sufficiency in Tool Care – Learn to maintain and repair your hand tools, ensuring longevity and effectiveness.
  • Water Harvesting Techniques – Capture and store rainwater efficiently from rooftops and paved surfaces to keep your garden hydrated.
  • Boosting Biodiversity – Attract beneficial insects and wildlife to create a balanced ecosystem that naturally manages pests.
