Due to site restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we are not currently taking on new volunteers. Should you be interested in volunteering with us in the future do check back as we will update this page with information as circumstances change.

Many heritage attractions are only able to thrive thanks to the commitment of their valuable volunteers and at Winterbourne, we are no different. The help and support that our volunteers provide is invaluable to us.

House stewards help offer a warm welcome to our visitors and ensure that they get the most out of their visit; whether that means helping direct them around the site or answering questions about the Nettlefold family. During the week, garden volunteers help our team of horticulturalists keep the colourful borders looking their best and connect with visitors as they move around the areas of the garden. We are also looking to fill behind the scenes roles for anyone interested in administrative work or helping keep the nuts and bolts of Winterbourne running smoothly as a maintenance volunteer.

Our commitment to you

If you do join us as a volunteer, we would ask that you are able to give at least two and a half hours a week of your time. We would then provide all necessary training and assign staff to support you throughout your time with us. You will have the opportunity to become part of a friendly team, and develop skills that could last you a lifetime.

If you are interested in finding out more information about any of these roles, please email enquiries@winterbourne.org.uk. If you would like to start your volunteer journey with us then please complete and return the form found below. A member of staff will then be in touch to talk about an informal interview.

There are many opportunities to volunteer at Winterbourne from gardening, assisting with events, working in our archive to meeting and welcoming our visitors as a room steward.
